So far this year we have been getting an unusually high number of calls for remodeling bathrooms and all of them focused on new and enlarged showers.

At least half of these homeowners are interested in ForzaStone, the state of the art stone panel system.

We're very excited with the resulting beautiful showers and tub surrounds that can be done for not much more than a tiled shower.

Homeowners are impressed with the beauty and the lack of grout to keep clean. They also like that just like stone counter tops, each ForzaStone panel is unique resulting in a one of a kind creation.

We're on our way to a total remodel on this Peoria home. We were excited to hear from the home owners association that this is the largest remodel they have ever approved. We are transforming this home by remodeling the kitchen, both the master and the guest bathroom, and adding another bedroom to this Westbrook Village home.

This video focuses on the first steps of adding another bedroom to the front of the home. We will be doing future follow-up videos of the addition and all aspects of kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodels and total home improvement. Check back for follow-up videos.

One of the most frustrating things about professional bathroom remodeling is that it is so hard to take good photos of bathrooms after they have been remodeled. This is especially true of the average small bathroom.

There isn't much that can be done about taking photos of bathrooms. But when our clients ask about how to make their bathroom look larger, we do have solutions.

How your bathroom looks and feels can be effected by many choices you can make during a bathroom remodel. Your choices will depend on how extensive you can be with your bathroom renovation plans.

If your idea is to completely rearrange the room, you will have the most options available to you. This could even include enlarging the room by using adjoining space from another room or closet.  If you are not rearranging your bathroom there are still a number of design choices that will improve your bathroom.

You can start by considering your options for your bathroom vanity. Depending on your storage needs, you could make your small bathroom feel larger by going with a smaller vanity, a lighter colored vanity or even a pedestal sink.

Pedestal sinks come in a wide variety of styles and features. Depending on your needs some have built in towel bars and even shelves. By going with a pedestal sink you will literally be adding floor space to your bathroom giving it a larger feel.

Next take a look at your options for a new toilet. Many older toilets are much larger than some of today's updated versions. You may also want to choose a round bowl model rather than an elongated version to give yourself more floor space in your updated bathroom. Both the Kohler toilet and pedestal sink pictured above are excellent examples of smaller scale fixtures creating a larger feel.

While you are looking check out the WaterSense versions of toilets, faucets and shower fixtures. They won't make your room feel larger, but they will make your water bill smaller.

The final things to look at will be lighting and color choices. A dark room will always feel smaller. If your bathroom doesn't have adequate window light you may want to install a tubular skylight. These skylights are easy to install and are great at making small dark rooms feel more spacious.

The final consideration will be color. To make a small bathroom feel larger avoid large areas of dark color. Dark color tends to move forward in your field of view, causing things to appear closer causing your bathroom to feel smaller.

Now that you have come up with the best ways to make your small bathroom feel more spacious, remember that after it is done keep decorations and clutter to a minimum for the most spacious look and feel.

Bathroom remodeling is one of life's great mysteries. I'm sure many people wonder, how the smallest room in the house can be so complicated to redo?

The truth is that there are an awful lot of details contained in every bathroom large or small. Not only do all of the bathroom components need to work well, they need to look great together. Sometimes a new bathroom will require rearranging the floor plan. This can be challenging to come up with the perfect lay-out, but the work will be worth the effort when your new dream bathroom comes together.

Of course the most complected feature to be remodeled in your bathroom will be the shower. There are many parts of a bathroom remodel that you can do yourself as a homeowner. This is not one of them.

A bathroom shower must be built in such a way that it will be water tight for years to come. Many homeowners have taken their time and put together a tile bathroom shower only to find it developing a curious odor as it ages. This is a sure sign that mold is developing somewhere between the beautiful tile and the interior of the bathroom wall.

This is bad, but the worst news is that the only cure is a new shower. Any shower that leaks water is almost impossible to repair without starting over.

If you are looking for a way to create a new look for your shower on a tight budget, consider having the tile refinished. This process works well on any bathtub or shower as long as the surface is basically sound and the tub isn't rusting. Minor repairs can be made prior to refinishing and the renovated bathroom fixtures will look great after being refinished.
