There isn't much that can be done about taking photos of bathrooms. But when our clients ask about how to make their bathroom look larger, we do have solutions.

How your bathroom looks and feels can be effected by many choices you can make during a bathroom remodel. Your choices will depend on how extensive you can be with your bathroom renovation plans.
If your idea is to completely rearrange the room, you will have the most options available to you. This could even include enlarging the room by using adjoining space from another room or closet. If you are not rearranging your bathroom there are still a number of design choices that will improve your bathroom.
You can start by considering your options for your bathroom vanity. Depending on your storage needs, you could make your small bathroom feel larger by going with a smaller vanity, a lighter colored vanity or even a pedestal sink.
Pedestal sinks come in a wide variety of styles and features. Depending on your needs some have built in towel bars and even shelves. By going with a pedestal sink you will literally be adding floor space to your bathroom giving it a larger feel.
Next take a look at your options for a new toilet. Many older toilets are much larger than some of today's updated versions. You may also want to choose a round bowl model rather than an elongated version to give yourself more floor space in your updated bathroom. Both the Kohler toilet and pedestal sink pictured above are excellent examples of smaller scale fixtures creating a larger feel.
While you are looking check out the WaterSense versions of toilets, faucets and shower fixtures. They won't make your room feel larger, but they will make your water bill smaller.
The final things to look at will be lighting and color choices. A dark room will always feel smaller. If your bathroom doesn't have adequate window light you may want to install a tubular skylight. These skylights are easy to install and are great at making small dark rooms feel more spacious.
The final consideration will be color. To make a small bathroom feel larger avoid large areas of dark color. Dark color tends to move forward in your field of view, causing things to appear closer causing your bathroom to feel smaller.
Now that you have come up with the best ways to make your small bathroom feel more spacious, remember that after it is done keep decorations and clutter to a minimum for the most spacious look and feel.
