Everybody's familiar with the Craftsman Bungalows, with their distinctive large front porches with thick, square  columns;  low gabled roofs with  exposed rafters; and their numerous windows.  It's all those windows that can make the maintenance on these houses a challenge.  Because these houses were built in the early 1900's, replacing either the entire window or any of the hardware, glass, or wood trim to match the original is difficult.

Andersen Windows is offering windows for the Craftsman Bungalow that represent  the best of both worlds -- they look like historic windows but operate like modern ones.  They have tilting sashes for easy cleaning, and low maintenance finishes  both exterior and  interior that come in a wide variety of colors.  The windows can be made in custom sizes  and have smoothly operating hardware that comes in both shiny new finishes and  distressed ones to give the look of the older hardware and is specially made for  each style of window. It's nice  that Andersen came up with windows for Craftsman Bungalow owners that look  beautiful and open easily and effortlessly rather than with a screwdriver or crowbar.

Window Upgrades
Upgrading windows that are not functioning properly or have air leaks is one of the places to start when creating a more energy efficient home.  Not only making it more energy efficient but also increasing the look and the value of your home as well.  Windows have a way of creating elegance and ambiance by utilizing natural light.

The Milgard Essence window is an example of great technology combined with a wooden look you are longing for in your home.  It's wooden on the interior with a fiberglass exterior.  The windows feature traditional butt joinery and no visible fasteners, nail holes, or staple marks; an integrated weep system keeps moisture from penetrating the interior.  With the standard glass package, the windows are Energy Star rated.  An optional triple glazing is also available for up to 30% more efficiency.

So when remodeling your home, consider replacing old windows.  We encourage you to take advantage of what natural light can do in saving you money while enhancing the look and feel of your home.
