We're polishing up the final details on our freestanding garage project. The following video illustrates all of the features that were included in order to complement the original Frank Lloyd Wright Boomer House.
The stone for the exterior wall detail proved to be one of the most elusive details of the project. The stone showing in the walls of the original Boomer House were no doubt gathered from the nearby countryside. Today it is illegal to gather stone from anywhere other than your own property or a stone quarry. We were looking for flat stones that would complement the Boomer House's original rusty colored stones. After numerous trips to the stone yard to check for the right color and size we finally were rewarded with stones that the owner was happy with for their match.
The new glass and aluminum garage doors are in and working great. The owner is enjoying his new storage and inside parking.
While we were visiting the David & Gladys Wright home this morning, Alison King of Modern Phoenix asked if the Boomer House was for sale. We quickly realized that someone had mistaken our job sign for a "For Sale" sign.
We are in the midst of building a free standing garage for all the cars that are continuously parked in front of the Boomer house built by Frank Lloyd Wright. There is no doubt that the Boomer House owner is very invested in investing in the future of his unique home and living in it long term.
